About RyukaABOUT
Ryuka (琉夏) is an Okinawan izakaya (Japanese pub) on the ground floor of Pukaras Village in Hirara, Miyakojima, Okinawa. We serve classic Okinawan dishes such as goya champuru, rafute, soki, Miyako soba, sea grapes and island shallots, plus sashimi from the waters around Miyakojima, with island drinks every day from 5 PM to 12 AM (closed Tuesdays).
Alongside the classics, we offer many original creative dishes made with Okinawan ingredients such as island shallots, island chili, aosa seaweed and local fruit. Highlights include shrimp mayo with an Okinawan fruit sauce, aosa and shrimp Thai toast, and chicken stir-fried in Miyakojima island chili oil.
Our head chef is from Miyazaki. His chicken nanban, Miyazaki's famous fried chicken, comes with a tartar sauce of Okinawan island shallots, a dish you will only find here. We also serve Agu pork shabu-shabu in a beef oxtail broth simmered for five hours.
